Do you have a Showhome I can view?
Yes, we have a display cabin at our Auckland yard, which is finished in a range of styles to showcase the various finishes we can offer. We also continually have other cabins being built which can be viewed at different stages.
Can you build on our site?
Generally our cabins are built in our yard and transported to site using a hiab delivery truck. However, if delivery access is limited, we can build your Tiny Timber Home on site
Are there different styles and finishes available for the cabins?
Yes there are multiple options available and the cabins are fully customizable. We have two basic designs (mono-pitch roof and gable roof) which both include timber weatherboard exterior cladding, full insulation, one window, one single door, electrical components (light + switch + double power outlet), iron roof, particle board interior finish and laminate flooring. Customized extras can be added to your cabin such as, but not limited to:
- A loft space for storage or bedding
- Stain to exterior cladding
- Asphalt roofing shingles
- French doors
- Additional windows
- Tongue and groove timber interior & soffits
- Painted interior finish
- Timber flooring
- Additional electrical components
- Built in shelving, storage or wardrobes etc
- The building must not exceed 10 m2 in floor area
- The building must be set back from the property boundaries a minimum distance equivalent to the building height
- There must already be an existing dwelling present on the property
- The building must not be more than one storey, must not contain sanitary facilities or facilities for the storage of potable water and must not contain permanent cooking facilities.
We are open to your design suggestions and will work with you to build a cabin perfectly suited to your requirements and budget.
Are the cabins insulated?
Yes the cabins are fully insulated with polystyrene insulation on the walls, ceiling and floor.
What maintenance is required for my Tiny Timber Home?
Maintenance requirements depend on the exterior finish of the cabin. Oiling is required on exposed timber cladding and we recommend oiling the cladding every 4-6 months in the first two years, then once a year.
What are the dimensions of the cabins?
Our base model designs have base dimensions of 4.15 m by 2.4 m. The mono-pitch cabins have a ceiling height of 2.4 m at the high end and 2.2 m at the low end.
How do I get power to my Tiny Timber Home?
You can choose from a caravan plug fitting or standard extension cord plug to be fitted to the cabin. Power can then be provided from your house using an extension cord.
How much will my Tiny Timber Home Cost?
Prices start from $10,000 (excluding GST) for a base model with no extras included. Transport to site and installation is an additional cost based on distance from our yard.

What are the terms of payment?
We require a 40% deposit to cover the material costs prior to commencing construction, then full payment on delivery.
Do you offer "rent to buy" or finance options on the cabins?
Yes we do. We partner with a finance company to offer a range of finance options starting at $95 per week over 3 years for a basic cabin, conditions apply.
Will I need a building consent?
Generally you will not require a building consent for structures with a floor area up to 10 m2. However, it is your responsibility to check the specific consent rules for your area before delivery.
What are the consent rules?
Each region of New Zealand has their unique Regional Plan rules and we recommend confirming the local rules in your area prior to delivery. The following rules generally apply to buildings that don't require building consent.
Can you include a bathroom or a kitchen?
No, we generally do not include a bathroom or a kitchen as building consent would be required.
